Docs & help

FAQs on the left. Ask Veyl on the right — same answers as /ask.

Getting started

How do I get started?

Create an account with email and password, download the macOS or Windows app, grant microphone access, and press Record in the widget on your next call. You can also capture from the web app at /app/live.

Do I need to connect a calendar?

No. You can download and record without one. Optionally connect Google Calendar or Outlook in the app so upcoming events sync into Agenda / Week / Month and you can link a live capture to the right meeting. We read your calendar (we do not create or edit events in Google or Outlook).

How do I move or expand the floating widget?

When the desktop widget is collapsed to the circle: drag the edge (the ring around the V) to reposition it; click the center to expand the panel. Hovering the edge shows a move cue; hovering the center shows expand. The first time you collapse, a short tip explains this — dismiss it once and it won’t return.

Why is Tasks empty?

Tasks show up after a capture (action items from the meeting), or you can add one above on the Tasks page. Filtering Open / Done can also hide rows — clear filters if you expect something there.

Recording & transcription

Which meeting platforms are supported?

Veyl captures audio locally, so Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, and in-person meetings work without any bot joining the call.

Is the recording visible when I share my screen?

No. On the desktop app, the widget and its recording indicator are invisible in screen shares. Only you can see them.

How long are transcripts kept?

Saved meetings stay in your account until you archive or delete them. Deleted meetings move to Recently deleted so you can restore them. Automatic retention policies are on the roadmap — we do not claim a fixed auto-delete window today.

What’s the difference between Archive and Recently deleted?

Archive tucks a meeting away but keeps it easy to browse and Restore to Active. Delete moves it to Recently deleted — still recoverable with Restore. Tasks are different: deleting a task removes it permanently and it does not appear in Recently deleted.

Live coaching

What is Prep brief?

Optional context before you record — who you’re with and what you want from the call. Type or dictate, then Looks good to arm the coach. Expand Prep for Skip / Capture now, or use Start capture in the toolbar — Prep never blocks recording.

What is Earn?

Ask-next replies stay quiet until Veyl has enough signal — on mic-only calls about 15 seconds and two final transcript turns; on remote split audio, enough turns including a guest line. Tips can still update while replies wait, so the coach doesn’t invent questions on thin audio.

What is Ask next?

When you’re hosting (Pro Meeting Intelligence), Ask next suggests the next question to ask. As a participant, you see Say next — a reply you can use. Distinct from Meeting Ask (chat about the meeting).

What are Auto and On demand?

Auto paints a new Ask-next suggestion when it’s ready. On demand keeps fetching in the background but only paints when you tap Ask next — useful if mid-read swaps distract you.

What is Hold?

Hold freezes the painted Ask-next replies so they don’t swap while you’re reading or speaking. Release when you want the next set. Hold wins over On-demand paint gating.

Meeting Ask vs Ask Veyl?

Meeting Ask is inside the signed-in app — questions about this meeting or (on Pro) your recent meetings. Ask Veyl on this page (and /ask) is public product Q&A about Veyl itself, not your meeting content.

Privacy & security

Do you sell my data?

No. Meeting content is for your account. See our Privacy page for details.

How do I sign in?

Email and password today. Optional authenticator 2FA is on the near-term build list. Google and Microsoft sign-in for login (separate from calendar connect) is parked for later — we will not show those buttons until they work.

Who is responsible for recording consent?

You are responsible for complying with recording and consent laws in your jurisdiction. Veyl does not join calls as a bot, but that does not replace your legal obligations.

Billing & credits

How is billing handled?

Paid tiers are billed as recurring subscriptions through Stripe. You can manage or cancel anytime from your account.

What happens to credits I am issued?

Credits are applied automatically against your next charge. Each credit is logged with a reason.

Do Live minutes get used even if I don't save?

Yes. Live minutes are used for the time you're capturing — coaching and live transcription run during the session — whether you end up saving or discarding. The Discard screen shows exactly how many minutes were used for that session.
